Canada-1

Canada 150: There’s no shortage of events to celebrate Canada 150 in Edmonton. We’ll be in the backyard hosting a party and road hockey tournament (watch my IG Story for more) but here’s a few things you can check out around the city.

  • Celebration at City Hall from 11-6.  All the details.
  • Event at the Alberta Legislature from 7 am-9 pm. All the details.
  • Heritage Chinatown Nighttime Market (96 Street between 102 and 103 Ave) from 4-9. More details.
  • Muttart Conservatory celebration with music, entertainment, and a feature pyramid. Goes from 10-3. More details.

Fireworks Viewing Locations: Edmonton does an amazing job of the fireworks show on Canada Day and I’m sure this year will be even better. Here’s the best spots to watch:

  • Remax Field
  • Alberta Legislature Grounds
  • Victoria Park
  • Government House Park (Groat & River Valley Road)
  • Ezio Faraone Park
  • 109th Street at Saskatchewan Drive (on foot only)
  • River Valley Road (on foot only)
  • Walterdale Hill and Queen Elizabeth Park Road (on foot only)

150 Swag: Picking up last minute stuff for your Canada 150 party? Here’s where to shop:

Sweetness YEG will be at the St. Albert Farmer’s Market tomorrow (July 1) from 10-3 at stall 337 selling the most amazing custom Canada 150 cookies!

Ole Originals has the best Canada Day shirts. Check out the list of local boutiques who carry their stuff and get it!

The Maker’s Keep has awesome Canada Day mugs and shirts. They are only open today so get in there!

Custom Canada Bags: Duval Canada is offering custom red lined bags to celebrate Canada 150. Also, don’t forget this Edmonton-based handbag line gives 10% back to charity. Order online from now until July 3. Duval will also be set up at the Mac Market on July 3 (more details below).

Canada-2

Summer Shop: A few of my favourite local boutiques are having amazing summer and Canada 150 sales:

Bamboo Ballroom – 15% off your purchase online and in store from now until July 3 (excluding local goods).

JillysBoutique – 15%off all Canadian brands today and tomorrow (July 1).

Floc Boutique  – buy more and save on tees, tanks, shorts and shoes. Buy One – 10% off, buy two – 20% off, buy three – 30% off. Now until July 3.

Who Cares Wear – BOGO sale on select shoes and clothes. 30% off dresses and accessories, 50% off select jewelery.

Pura Botanicals – 10 – 30 % off select items.

Plum Home + Design – 25% off the online shop from now until Monday.

So Pretty Cara Cotter – 30% off site-wide. Now until July 2.

Mac Market: The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is hosting it’s first ever market featuring unique local vendors including Duval Canada, Made Social and local artist Reece Schulte. It goes Monday, July 3 from 11-5. It’s free to get in. More here.

Summer Drinks: If you’re hosting your own party for Canada Day, or anytime this summer, check out these delicious and relatively healthy summer drink features I designed. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the Best Caesar in the World either. For your camping getaway, check out these Super-Cool S’Mores Kits made with S’Mores Chocolates!

First time going to Disney? We got so much great a First time going to Disney? We got so much great advice and awesome tips for how to maximize our first time at the park as a family.

➡️ The number one thing I want to pass along is to allow breathing room in your days there. Don't overplan it. Try not to be SO scheduled that you miss the magic. ✨️

Of course you want to have a general plan of the rides you want to hit, your strategy for tackling the pack, etc. but leave space so when suddenly Goofy is walking down the street and your kiddo wants a photo - you have time.

➡️ Book your hotel and park passes ahead of time for sure. Reserve a character dinner too (we booked ours the day before and got the last spot).

There are a lot of to-the-minute schedules you'll find out there for how to hit every ride and try all the food in record time but for a family with young kids, I don't recommend it. Just go with the flow and have fun! 🤗

➡️ Make sure to head a few reels back and see how we surprised our seven-year-old with the trip! Ask any questions below. ❤️ Like and save this post if it was helpful for you.

More Disney tips coming to my Reels feed and KariSkelton.com this week!
