Hello Fresh Review + Giveaway!

July 18, 2018 By Kari 7 Comments

Keep it simple. That's been my focus for the past several months, and it's made a HUGE change! I used to set lofty, SuperMom expectations, creating everything from scratch, making beautifully-packed lunches every morning, and elaborate meals every evening. Maybe one day . . .

DIY: Coconut Lavender Whipped Cream

October 5, 2017 By Kari 2 Comments

Body lotions, creams, butter: whatever title you want to use, they're far too expensive for my liking. How is something so simple (that you know is inexpensive to produce) so costly? (I feel the same way about toss cushions but that's a topic for another day.) I have . . .

Goal: Eat Together at the Table

October 3, 2017 By Kari Leave a Comment

I've found myself developing a bit of a bad habit: plopping Wyatt into his high chair in front of the computer or the TV to eat his snacks and meals. It seemed like the perfect solution! He could sit there, eating (and supposedly entertained) while I wash the dishes, return . . .

Wyatt’s Room: Earthy Vintage Nursery

September 26, 2017 By Kari Leave a Comment

We'll likely be switching Wyatt to a big boy bed within the next year (despite the fact that if it was up to me, he'd be in a crib until he's 18), so I thought it would be fun to give you a peek into his room before the change-over. When we were designing the space, it . . .

Seven Summer Sensory Bins

July 15, 2017 By Kari 2 Comments

My dad built our son Wyatt a beautiful sensory table this spring. At first glance, it's a cute, kid-sized picnic table. But when you lift the lid, you discover a pair of engaging, attention-grabbing sensory bins with materials for Wyatt and his friends to touch, smell, see . . .

Healthy(ish) Summer Drinks for the Whole Family

June 28, 2017 By Kari 3 Comments

'Tis the season for summer drinks! I had so much fun designing these three fabulous features (mostly because I got to taste test all of them). I designed them to be alcohol-free, so you can pour them as-is for your kids and pregnant friends, or add vodka, gin, or white wine . . .

Super-Cool S’Mores Kits

June 7, 2017 By Kari Leave a Comment

There’s nothing quite like building S'Mores around the campfire with your friends. When I was a little girl, summer evenings at our cabin in the Whiteshell, Manitoba often included roasting marshmallows under the stars. That moment when you press your 'mallow in between your . . .

Who can we call to get these lyrics changed? 😄 Who can we call to get these lyrics changed? 😄 ... but seriously?

Actually listened to the lyrics while Miss. Rachel was on.🙈 Side note- i love her.

 What else needs changing? ⬇️

You know what drains a kid's emotional cup - being overscheduled. We've lived it and I'm here to say it's SO MUCH BETTER on the other side.

📍Last year, our goal was to give our oldest (now 8) every opportunity to try things to figure out what he loved. His schedule was packed with activities (I realize this is a privileged point). We were running - sometimes literally - from school to activity every night of the week and on weekends.

📍Fast-forward to this year - he has so much more time to just be a kid and we're all happier! He's picked a couple of things he's passionate about, but we've cut so much out and now most of our after-school time is open. Maybe we'll run an errand, maybe we'll come home and hang out, maybe we'll play at the park with friends and get ice cream.

✨️ If one day he decides he wants to pour more time into one of his passions - we support that, but for now this is it and it's awesome!

➡️ Have you lived this? How do you balance wanting to expose your kid to different activities so they find what they love with wanting your kids to just be a kid? Share below.

🚨Two Laundry Hacks!🚨 Share this with a frien 🚨Two Laundry Hacks!🚨 Share this with a friend who could use some laundry help. 🤗

➡️ Do you hate laundry? Love it? I love washing and hanging. My husband is definitely better at folding. ❤️

Tip 1️⃣ has been a game-changer. Fresh laundry and no stinky clothes that have been sitting too long. I schedule mine to end when our baby naps so I can get to it right away.

Tip 2️⃣ if you want wrinkle-free clothes that don't wear down as quickly - take your clothes from the wash and throw in the dryer for 5-8 mins only and then hang to dry. I do this for everything but stuff that is workout pant or bathing suit material (that goes straight on the rack).

The little time on the dryer is just enough to take the wrinkles out without shrinking or compromising the longevity of your items.

Towels, blankets, and sheets do go in the dryer for a full round.

Did this help?
